We welcome you in the New Year with a fresh podcast. In this second episode of the Esport Connect podcast, we warmly welcome Peter Kistner, the deputy chairman of Dortmund eSports eV. Peter is responsible for public relations there, but is also happy to give tips when you have questions about games like League of Legends arise.
In conversation with us, he explains how the Dortmund club came about and what the club offers: Founded in May 2018, the club enjoys great popularity in the city's gaming scene and aims to give players from all walks of life the opportunity to exchange ideas, play together, and improve their skills. Accordingly, they also organize tournaments and offer coaching sessions. It's not just about gaming together. Dortmund eSports eV is also actively involved in youth development and strives to strengthen the social fabric of Dortmund.
The project is one of the first in the Ruhr region and the first of its kind in Dortmund. For this reason, complications can arise, especially when founding an esports club, as Peter reports. Nevertheless, the effort is definitely worth it to bring the esports phenomenon into the mainstream of society.
