As a geoinformation technician, your workplace is in the office; occasionally, you will also work in the field. You have a keen interest in learning and using various software applications. You are able to manage tasks simultaneously while remaining friendly and calm. You are always able to complete tasks on time and accurately. You have good spatial awareness and enjoy structured work. You enjoy teamwork. You show interest in the graphic design of traffic data, the creation of maps and plans, and the evaluation and recording of spatial (geo)data. During your apprenticeship, you will also have the opportunity to familiarize yourself with the specialist activities in other departments of the City of Vienna.
Your tasks
- You will learn how to capture, process, analyze, and output spatial data (geodata) using geographic information systems (GIS).
- You will learn how to manage and secure geodata as part of geodatabase management.
- You will learn how to prepare geoinformation for output in different media.
- You will learn to apply cartographic knowledge.
- You will learn how to work with geoinformation systems, cartography and image processing systems
- You will learn how to research and compile specialist and geodata into output-ready products
- You will learn how to prepare geoinformation for output in different media (maps, plans, reports, presentations, etc.)
- You will learn how to evaluate geo- and technical information for implementation in geoinformation (GIS) systems
- You will learn how to manage and secure data within the framework of geodatabase management
- You will learn how to print, cut, fold and archive plans and the associated documents
